The performance of eccentric braced in decreasing of moment frames deformation

چکیده
EBF (Eccentric Braced Frames) provides a resistance loading system which has both the advantages of MRF (Moment Resistant Frames) and CBF (Concentrically Braced Frames) simultaneously. In this study, the authors investigated the performance of eccentric braced in moment frames. In other words, the effect of this bracing in controlling the deformation of moment frames was compared with a moment frame alone. The structural models used in this research are two dimensional moment frames with the eccentric braced. The models were considered as 5, 10 and 20 stories frames with 4 variation spans and the different ratios of link length to span length with e/L ratio equal 0.15, 0.2 and 0.25. Link beams in the frames was considered short, hence it except that the link beams behavior is shear. In addition, the nonlinear behavior of link beam in the models was studied. First, the frames were analyzed and designed by ETABS software then the nonlinear analysis of the frames was attained using SAP2000 software which has high capability in nonlinear analysis. The results showed that eccentric braced has the effective role in decreasing of stories drift in the moment frames.
